1.1 These requirements cover self-contained drinking-water coolers which employ hermetic refrigerantmotor-compressors and which are designed for connection to alternating-current circuits rated not greaterthan 600 volts in accordance with the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70. The requirements also apply towater coolers which supply both hot and cold water.1.2 These requirements do not include additional requirements applicable to equipment designed for usein hazardous locations as defined in the National Electrical Code, NFPA 70.1.3 A product that contains features, characteristics, components, materials, or systems new or differentfrom those covered by the requirements in this standard, and that involves a risk of fire, electric shock, orinjury to persons shall be evaluated using the appropriate additional component and end-productrequirements as determined necessary to maintain the acceptable level of safety as originally anticipatedby the intent of this standard. A product whose features, characteristics, components, materials, orsystems conflict with specific requirements or provisions of this standard cannot be judged to comply withthis standard. Where considered appropriate, revision of requirements shall be proposed and adopted inconformance with the methods employed for development, revision, and implementation of this standard.

NEW! IEC 62133:2012 is available as IEC Standards+ 62133:2012 which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition. IEC 62133:2012 specifies requirements and tests for the safe operation of portable sealed secondary cells and batteries (other than button) containing alkaline or other non-acid electrolyte, under intended use and reasonably foreseeable misuse. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - update of assembly of cells into batteries (5.5); - addition of design recommendations for lithium system only (5.6.2); - separation of nickel systems and lithium systems (Clause 6); - addition of specific requirements and tests for lithium systems (Clause 8); - addition of charging of secondary lithium-ion cells for safe use (Annex A). The contents of the corrigendum of June 2013 have been included in this copy.
This part of IEC 60079 specifies requirements for the construction, testing and marking forGroup II electrical equipment with type of protection, \"n\" intended for use in explosive gasatmospheres. This standard applies to electrical equipment where the rated voltage does notexceed 15 kV r.m.s. a.c. or d.c.This part of IEC 60079 is applicable to non-sparking electrical equipment and also toelectrical equipment with parts or circuits producing arcs or sparks or having hot surfaceswhich, if not protected in one of the ways specified in this standard, could be capable ofigniting a surrounding explosive gas atmosphere. This standard describes several differentmethods by which this can be achieved which may be combined with other methods describedin IEC 60079-0.This standard supplements and modifies the general requirements of IEC 60079-0, except asindicated in Table 1. Where a requirement of this standard conflicts with a requirement ofIEC 60079-0, the requirement of this standard takes precedence.
