Applies to low-voltage landscape lighting systems and components that may consist of an isolating type power unit, wiring, and luminaire. Only covers equipment where the maximum output of each secondary circuit is 25 A, 15 V ac (21.2 V peak) open circuit voltage, 300 VA. The luminaires intended for garden, walkway, patio areas, or similar outdoor locations and for certain indoor locations such as atriums and shopping malls. The power units may be installed indoors or outdoors. The equipment is intended to be installed in accordance with the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70.
This British Standard specifies requirements for various types ofinsulation, voltage categories and dimensions for a standard range ofinsulated flexible cables and flexible cords (commonly known as “coilend leads”), that are intended to be connected directly and permanentlyto a coil winding or other component of electrical apparatus. The types of cable specified in this standard are as follows:Type 4 cable, voltage categories A, C, D, E and F, for a designatedtemperature of 90 °C (flame retardant, rubber insulated coil leads);Type 5 cable, voltage categories A, C, D, E and F, for a designatedtemperature of 180 °C (180 °C silicone rubber insulated coil leads).NOTE A guide to the use of the cables specified in this British Standard isgiven in Annex A. A summary of the tests applicable to the cables is given inAnnex B.
This British Standard gives recommendations for the storage andhandling of cables for fixed installations, rated up to 1 900/3 300 V, thatare packaged on wooden cable drums suitable for storage outdoors.NOTE The recommendations could also be applied to:? cables of higher rated voltages that are packaged on wooden drums;and? cables of similar size, on similar wooden drums, and made tostandards and specifications not specifically quoted here. This standard does not cover metal drums, cable spools or cable reels,or trailing and reeling cables.
This standard gives guidance on writing the technical specification for the procurement of equipment for use inelectricity generating stations (power stations). This Guide for procurement is not applicable to equipment for use inthe nuclear reactor plant area of nuclear power stations. Other possible applications of such equipment have notbeen considered in the preparation of this Guide. This Guide on cabling systems deals with a wide range of activities and may be used for any or all of these activitiesby selection of the relevant parts e.g.:- provision of support for cable;- laying of cable;- completion of cable ends; The Guide covers the installation of power cable up to and including 20,8/36 (42) kV and the supply and installation ofcontrol and instrumentation cable. The supply of power cable is covered by EN 45510-2-8.The Guide includes the installation of protective conductor cable for earthing and equipotential bonding up to the mainearthing busbar(s), but not the below ground earth-electrode network. The equipment covered by this Guide is defined by its function rather than design type. Therefore, the guidance tothe specification is stated in performance terms rather than being specified by a detailed description of theequipment to be supplied. This Guide indicates to potential purchasers how their specification should be prepared so that- the equipment type and capacity interfaces correctly with other elements of the systems,- predicted performance is achieved,- ancillary equipment is properly sized,- reliability, availability and safety requirements are achieved,- proper consideration is given to the evaluation process and the quality measures to be applied. This Guide does not determine the type of specification (e.g. detailed, performance, functional) or the extent ofsupply for any given contract which is normally decided on the basis of the purchaser's project strategy. It does notcover- any commercial, contractual or legal issues which are normally in separate parts of an enquiry,- any allocation of responsibilities which are determined by the contract. This Guide does not prescribe the arrangement of the documents in the enquiry.NOTE As a comprehensive European environmental policy is still under preparation, this Guide does not address theenvironmental implications of the equipment.
EN 50143 applies to single core cables of rated voltages up to and including 5/10 kV (Uo/U) used with electricsigns and high-voltage luminous-discharge-tube installations. These cables are for use in installationscomplying with EN 50107.The particular types of cables are specified in Clauses 7 to 10 of this standard.
This International Standard applies to flexible cables with insulation based on ethylenepropylene rubber (EPR), polyvinyl chloride (PVC) or silicone rubber (SiR) for portable earthingand short-circuiting equipment. For this type of cable no rated voltage is given as such cables are exclusively intended forearthing and short-circuiting equipment. The particular types of cable and their code designations are specified in Clause 6 of thisstandard. The test methods specified in this standard are given in }EN 50395, EN 50396~,IEC 60811 and IEC 62230.NOTE In addition to the requirements given in this standard, mechanical requirements and requirements for themarking for the complete equipment should be taken into account. These requirements can be found in IEC 61230.
