This European Standard specifies the requirements and test methods for the contruction, the safety and the rational energy usage for gas-fired standard and low temperature central heating boilers equipped with a forced draught burner. These boilers comprise a boiler body and a forced draught gas burner brought together at the producer's assembly facility, the whole being disigned and marketed as a complete boiler. This standard does not apply to the case of the assembly of a boiler body and a forced draught gas burner designed and marketed separately. In this case,EN 303-3 applies. This European Standard applies to type B
This part of EN 746 together with EN 746-1 specifies safety requirements for single and multiple burners that are part of Industrial Thermoprocessing Equipment. (In this standard referred to as IThE).This document deals with significant hazards, hazardous situations and events relevant to combustion and fuel handling systems that are part of IThE as listed in Clause 4, when used as intended and under the conditions foreseen by the manufacturer. This European Standard covers:- fuel pipework downstream of and including the manual isolating valve;- burner(s), burner system and ignition device;- safety related control system (protective system). This European Standard applies to any oxidation with air or other gases containing free oxygen of gaseous, liquid and solid fuels or any combustion of them to release thermal energy. For thermal or catalytic post combustion and waste incineration, this European Standard applies only to auxiliary burners designed to start-up and/or support the process. The pressure hazard of piping and components covered by this standard is within the limits of maximum pressure/size relationship as described in normative Annex E.This European Standard also gives the necessary requirements for the information for use. This European Standard does not cover hazards from heating generated by electricity. This European Standard does not deal with the hazards created by the release of flammable substances from the products processed in the IThE.This European Standard is not applicable to electricity cabling and power cabling upstream of the IThE control panel/protective system.Noise can be a significant hazard for combustion and fuel handling systems. It is not dealt with in this standard. This European Standard is not applicable to combustion and fuel handling systems as part of IThE which is manufactured before the date of its publication as EN.
This European Standard (EN 1266:2002/A1:2004) has been prepared by Technical Committee CEN/TC 62"Independent gas-fired space heaters", the secretariat of which is held by BSI.This Amendment to the European Standard EN 1266:2002 shall be given the status of a national standard, eitherby publication of an identical text or by endorsement, at the latest by February 2006, and conflicting nationalstandards shall be withdrawn at the latest by February 2006.This European Standard has been prepared under a mandate given to CEN by the European Commission and theEuropean Free Trade Association, and supports essential requirements of EU Directive(s).According to the CEN/CENELEC Internal Regulations, the national standards organizations of the followingcountries are bound to implement this European Standard: Austria, Belgium, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark,Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta,Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and United Kingdom.
The change A1 of EN 1596 concerns several technical amendments due to need for regulation appearing after ratification of the standard. The standard itself defines for the purpose of type approval the safety characteristics, the test methods and the marking of mobile, non-domestic forced convection direct fired air heaters with a nominal heat input of up to 180 kW (HS) for the combustion of 3rd family gases (liquefied petroleum gases). Most significant technical change stipulated by this draft ist the lowering of the air delivery temperature from 80 °C to 55 °C.
This document specifies, for the purpose of type examination, the requirements and test methods for construction, safety, marking and rational use of energy of 2ne and 3rd family gas-fired domestic flueless space heating appliances having a nominal input not exceeding 6 kW (based on net calorific value). It covers the following Type AAS fixed flueless heaters: NOTE These are type A appliances fitted with an atmosphere sensing device, with or without a fan. a) heaters with or without a catalytic converter; b) Category 1 appliances burning gases of the second family; c) Category 2 appliances burning gases of the second and third families. It does not cover qi. Mobile heaters.ii. Category 1 appliances burning gases of the third family.iii. Portable flueless heaters.iv. Diffusive catalytic combustion heaters. There are no specific thermal efficiency requirements appropriate to these types of appliance as: -- All the heat produced by the combustion process is released into the space to be heated. -- The requirements with regard to the combustion performance, which is a safety matter, ensure the effective burning of the fuel gas. This standard is only applicable to appliances which are to be type tested. Matters related to quality assurance systems, tests during production and to certificates of conformity of auxiliary devices are not dealt with by this standard.
