This European Standard specifies the construction and performance characteristics as well as the requirements and methods of test for the safety and marking of freestanding and built-in domestic cooking appliances burning the combustible gases given in 4.1 according to the categories specified in 4.2, referred to in the text as "appliances".This European Standard covers the following types of domestic cooking appliances, as defined in Clause 3, and belonging to the classes defined in 4.3 (see Table 1): independent freestanding hotplates; independent built-in hotplates; independent hotplates and grills; table cookers; freestanding ovens; built-in ovens; freestanding or built-in grills; griddles; freestanding cookers; built-in cookers. Unless specifically excluded hereafter,This European Standard applies to these appliances or their component parts, whether or not the component parts are independent or incorporated into a single appliance, even if the other heating components of the appliance use electrical energy (e. g. combined gas-electric cookers). This European Standard includes requirements covering the electrical safety of equipment incorporated in the appliance that is associated with the use of gas. It does not include requirements covering the electrical safety of electrically-heated component parts or their associated equipment1).This European Standard does not apply to: a) outdoor appliances; b) appliances connected to a combustion products evacuation duct; c) appliances having a pyrolitic gas oven; d) appliances having covered burners which are not in conformity with the constructional requirements of 5.2.8.2.2; e) appliances incorporating flame supervision devices and having an automatic ignition device for which the duration of the ignition attempt is limited by design; f) appliances equipped with a burner that is periodically ignited and extinguished under the control of an automatic on/off device; 1) Refer to the electrical safety rules. g) appliances equipped with an oven and/or with a grill having a fan: 1) either for the supply of combustion air or for the evacuation of the products of combustion; 2) or for the circulation of the products of combustion within the compartments; h) appliances supplied at pressures greater than those defined in 7.; i) appliances having one or more burners that are capable of remote operation (type1 or type 2), unless the burner(s) concerned are thermostatically controlled oven burners of time-controlled ovens that are designed for a delayed start without the user being present; j) appliances incorporating one or more hotplate or grill burners that enable the user to program the cooking cycle, including the start and/or the end of the cycle. This European Standard does not cover the requirements relating to third family gas cylinders, their regulators and their connection. This European Standard only covers type testing.
This European Standard specifies the safety, construction and performance requirements for multifunctional controls intended for use with gas burners, gas appliances and similar use, hereafter referred to as "MFC". This European Standard is applicable to MFC with declared maximum inlet pressures up to and including 50 kPa (500 mbar) of nominal connection sizes up to and including DN 150 for use with one or more fuel gases in accordance with EN 437. MFC consist of two or more functions, at least one of which is a mechanical control, as specified in the relevant control standards (see Figure 1). MFC consisting only of electronics are not covered by EN 126 (an example is a combination of functions according to EN 298 and EN 1643).
This European Standard specifies the requirements, the test methods and the marking of domestic flueless spaceheaters, including diffusive catalytic combustion heaters, having a nominal heat input (Hs), not exceeding 4,2 kWburning 3rd family gases at nominal operating pressures not exceeding 50 mbar. referred to in the text as'appliances'.This European Standard is applicable to the following types of appliances:a) fixed heaters burning commercial butane and/or commercial propane;b) portable or mobile heaters burning either commercial butane, or, commercial butane and commercial propane including those that incorporate a LPG container installation compartment for a transportable refillable liquefied petroleum LPG container. There are no specific thermal efficiency requirements appropriate to these types of appliance as:c) all the heat produced by the combustion process is released into the space to be heated;d) the requirements with regard to the combustion performance, which is a safety matter, ensure the effective burning of the fuel gas.It does not cover appliances incorporating electrically operated gas control systems.Annex A gives the details of the categories of appliances marketed in various countries.Requirements for appliances given in this standard assume that the supply of gas from the container will begoverned by a pressure regulator having a maximum nominal outlet pressure of 50 mbar. This European Standard does not cover LPG containers for liquefied petroleum gas neither their associatedregulator nor tubing and flexible hoses which shall comply with national requirements in force. This European Standard only covers type testing.
The change A1 of EN 1596 concerns several technical amendments due to need for regulation appearing after ratification of the standard. The standard itself defines for the purpose of type approval the safety characteristics, the test methods and the marking of mobile, non-domestic forced convection direct fired air heaters with a nominal heat input of up to 180 kW (HS) for the combustion of 3rd family gases (liquefied petroleum gases). Most significant technical change stipulated by this draft ist the lowering of the air delivery temperature from 80 °C to 55 °C.
This document specifies, for the purpose of type examination, the requirements and test methods for construction, safety, marking and rational use of energy of 2ne and 3rd family gas-fired domestic flueless space heating appliances having a nominal input not exceeding 6 kW (based on net calorific value). It covers the following Type AAS fixed flueless heaters: NOTE These are type A appliances fitted with an atmosphere sensing device, with or without a fan. a) heaters with or without a catalytic converter; b) Category 1 appliances burning gases of the second family; c) Category 2 appliances burning gases of the second and third families. It does not cover qi. Mobile heaters.ii. Category 1 appliances burning gases of the third family.iii. Portable flueless heaters.iv. Diffusive catalytic combustion heaters. There are no specific thermal efficiency requirements appropriate to these types of appliance as: -- All the heat produced by the combustion process is released into the space to be heated. -- The requirements with regard to the combustion performance, which is a safety matter, ensure the effective burning of the fuel gas. This standard is only applicable to appliances which are to be type tested. Matters related to quality assurance systems, tests during production and to certificates of conformity of auxiliary devices are not dealt with by this standard.
