The goal of this PCR is to specify the guidelines for developing an ISO 14025 conformant Type III Environmental Product Declaration, based on an ISO 14040 and ISO 14044 conformant LCA. The goal of an LCA that conforms to this PCR shall be, at a minimum, to calculate the environmental impacts of each life cycle phase of the product for select indicators, and shall be presented in such a way as to present the life cycle environmental impacts to the public. The scope of the LCA shall conform to the ISO 14040 series (ISO 14044 Section 4.2.3.1) and be from cradle-to-grave.It is recommended that users of this PCR include a statement in their EPD as follows:The PCR this EPD was based on was written to determine the potential environmental impacts of a furniture workspace product from cradle-to-grave. It was not written to support comparative assertions. EPDs based on different PCRs, or different calculation models, may not be comparable. When attempting to compare EPDs or life cycle impacts of products from different companies, the user should be aware of the uncertainty in the final results, due to and not limited to, the practitioner's assumptions, the source of the data used in the study, and the specifics of the product modeled.
This document includes amendment A1. This European Standard provides the specific methods and requirements for the assessments of social performance of a building while taking into account the building's functionality and technical characteristics. This European Standard applies to all types of buildings, both new and existing. The assessment of social performance of a building, in this first generation of the standard, concentrates on measures related to a building`s occupants and other users. This European Standard is intended to support the decision making process and documentation of the assessment of the social performance of a building. In this Standard, the method of assessment of the social performance of a building is based on a life cycle approach. In this first version of the standard, the social dimension of sustainability concentrates on the assessment of aspects and impacts for the use stage of a building. The standard gives requirements for: - the description of the object of assessment; - the system boundary that applies at the building level; - the list of indicators and procedures for the application of these indicators; - the presentation of the results in reporting and communication; - the data necessary for the application of the standard, and - verification. This standard does not set the rules for how building assessment schemes may provide valuation methods. Nor does it prescribe levels, classes or benchmarks of performance. The interpretation and valuation of the results of the assessment are not within the scope of this standard. Note: pre-use and after-use stages of the building lifecycle are not covered in this first generation of standards.
This European Standard provides a calculation method to quantify the amount of atmospheric carbon dioxide based on the biogenic carbon content of wood.
This European Standard provides general Product Category Rules (PCR) for Type III environmental declarations for wood and wood-based products for use in construction and related construction and in-service processes. It complements the core rules for the product category of construction products as defined in EN 15804 and is intended to be used in conjunction with EN 15804.
