This standard deals with power operated temporarily installed builders hoists (referred to as "hoists" inThis standard) intended for use by persons who are permitted to enter sites of engineering and construction, serving landing levels, having a load carrying device: designed for the transportation of goods only; guided; travelling vertically or along a path within 15 degrees max. of the vertical; supported or sustained by drum driven wire rope, chain, rack and pinion, hydraulic jack (direct or indirect), or an expanding linkage mechanism; where masts, when erected, may or may not require support from separate structures; which permits the access of instructed persons during loading and unloading; which are driven by appointed persons; which permits, if necessary, during erection, dismantling, maintenance and inspection, the access and travel by persons who are competent and authorised. The standard identifies hazards as listed in clause 4 which arise during the various phases in the life of such equipment and describes methods for the elimination or reduction of these hazards when used as intended by the manufacturer. This European Standard does not specify the additional requirements for: operation in severe conditions (e. g. extreme climates, strong magnetic fields); lightning protection; operation subject to special rules (e. g. potentially explosive atmospheres); electromagnetic compatibility (emission, immunity); handling of loads the nature of which could lead to dangerous situations (e. g. molten metal, acids/bases, radiating materials, fragile loads); the use of combustion engines; the use of remote controls; hazards occurring during manufacture; hazards occurring as a result of mobility; hazards occurring as a result of being erected over a public road; earthquakes; noise. This standard is not applicable to builders hoists for persons and materials; lifts according to EN 81-1:1998, 81-2:1998 and EN 81-3:2000; inclined hoists according to EN 12158-2:2000; work cages suspended from lifting appliances; work platforms carried on the forks of fork trucks; work platforms; funiculars; lifts specially designed for military purposes; mine lifts; theatre elevators; special purpose lifts. This standard deals with the hoist installation. It includes the base frame and base enclosure but excludes the design of any concrete, hard core, timber or other foundation arrangement. It includes the design of mast ties but excludes the design of anchorage bolts to the supporting structure. It includes the landing gates and their frames but excludes the design of any anchorage fixing bolts to the supporting structure.
The document specifies the general technical conditions of contract which have to be fulfilled in the construction and installation of conveying appliances, lifts, escalators and moving walkways with regard to materials, execution of work, associated and special tasks and the settlement of accounts.
This part of BS 6349 gives recommendations for the design ofroll-on/roll-off (Ro-Ro) ramps, linkspans and walkways, used for thetransfer of passengers and vehicles between shore and ship.It applies to the structural elements only and does not cover the designof any operational equipment, traffic control, mechanical or electricalequipment, heating, lighting, life saving or rescue equipment other thanas the structures forming a facility need to incorporate and/or supportany of these features. Most geometrical aspects of fixed shore ramps arecovered in this part of BS 6349, but recommendations for all otheraspects are given in BS 6349-2.This part of BS 6349 does not apply to Ro-Ro facilities used by railvehicles in that it does not give recommendations for railway loadingand associated ramp gradients. However, many of its recommendationsare applicable to rail Ro-Ro facilities and can be used in the absence ofother guidance.NOTE This part of BS 6349 is generally intended to cover facilitiesconstructed in the British Isles. Although the majority of the contents aredirectly applicable elsewhere, local conditions might necessitatemodifications, e.g. environmental effects and traffic loading.
This British Standard specifies requirements for the design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance and dismantling of newpermanently installed electrically powered vertical lifting platforms with thefollowing characteristics:? travelling vertically between predefined levels along a guided path wherethe inclination to the vertical does not exceed 15°;? supported or sustained by wire ropes, chains, rack and pinion, hydrauliccylinder (direct or indirect), screw and nut or scissors mechanisms;? having non-enclosed or partially enclosed liftways;? having non-enclosed or partially enclosed carriers;? having a rated speed that is not greater than 0.15 m/s;? having a travel distance that is not greater than 3.0 m;? sized for use with type A or type B wheelchairs conforming to BS EN 12183and/or BS EN 12184.It is applicable to lifting platforms that are intended primarily for the transportof persons with impaired mobility, with or without a wheelchair.NOTE 1 The lifting platforms specified in this standard can be used in domestic ornon-domestic premises, and can be installed indoors or outdoors. Their installation insome premises might not be practicable.NOTE 2 Although this British Standard is applicable to new lifting platforms, it canalso be used as guidance for the refurbishment and re-installation of existing liftingplatforms.
This British Standard gives recommendations for, and guidance on,the design for the installation of instrumentation of measurementand control systems in the process industry, and the implementationand commissioning of this installation. It is intended to be used asa manual of good practice on the site and also to assist those whodesign the installation.
This European Standard specifies general criteria to demonstrate by testing that newlyconstructed complete railway vehicles conform with standards or other normativedocuments. This standard is intended to be used as technical instructions for the processing of testswhich may be needed for demonstration of certain technical requirements where they arerelevant. This standard is not intended to be used as a list of approval requirements withoutconsideration of aforementioned technical requirements. This standard, as a whole or in part, applies to all railway vehicles except special purposevehicles such as track-laying machines, ballast cleaners and personnel carriers. The extentof application of the standard for particular vehicles will be specifically mentioned in the contract.
